22nd Annual Amish Country Bike Tour
Come one, come all to the 22nd Annual Amish Country Bike Tour, Saturday, September 6, 8 a.m., leaving Legislative Mall in Dover. Cyclists of all ages and abilities can participate in the 15, 25, 50, 62 or 100 mile loops through Amish Countryside.
Four food stops, catered picnic lunch and live music, water bottle, bike tour map are included in the registration fee. “Surf and Turf” weekend package includes two nights lodging, bike tour registration and kayaking trip with Return to Nature — only $275 per person or $325 per couple.
Last year 1,500 cyclists from 14 states came out for a great day in the fresh air. This year, “Team Challenge” will include trophies and awards for teams of 25 or more in four categories: largest team; best t-shirts; most miles ridden; most donations for Central Delaware YMCA.

Teams are also welcome — any group of 25 obtains a discount if registered by August 22. It’s the place to be in Delaware on September 6 — also, join Matt and Jon for a Return to Nature kayaking trip — it will be lots of great fun (good food, great friends and good times — what more do you need?)

Note that the Amish Bike Tour had to be rescheduled due to Tropical Storm Hannah. The new date is Saturday, October 25. All pre-registrations will be honored. I live in north Dover, right smack in the middle of Amish country. I remember seeing the bike tour come through, it was a good crowd. I also remember trying to get around the tour while driving. Keep those helmets on guys because the way you all ride sooner or later someone will need it!
